About Michael Miller-Imperiale
Founder & Director, Limber Pine Summer Camp
Michael Miller-Imperiale has dedicated his life to helping young people build meaningful connections to the natural world. With a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism from the University of Utah—emphasizing Adventure and Outdoor Programs—Michael brings over two decades of experience in outdoor education, youth leadership, and mountain guiding to Limber Pine Summer Camp.

Michael has spent years nurturing wonder, confidence, and curiosity in young people across a wide range of outdoor settings. He is incredibly grateful for his time as the Summer Camp Director at the Alta Summer Camp (2019–2025), where he oversaw daily operations while serving directly as a counselor, weaving exploration, play, and leadership into each day. His background also includes more than a decade as a PSIA ski instructor with Alta Ski Company, teaching both children and adults to find joy and resilience on the slopes.

Beyond the mountains, Michael founded Wasatch Forge, Salt Lake City’s only blacksmithing school, where he taught craft, focus, and creativity through hands-on metalwork. His outdoor career spans guiding for SWS Mountain Guides, leading more than 40 successful expeditions on Mount Shasta, Mount Whitney, and Alta Peak, as well as trips abroad to Nepal and South America. He has served as a Youth Ministries Director, a climbing instructor, a middle-school outdoor education leader, and is a certified Master Naturalist in the alpine discipline.
Across every role, Michael brings the same core belief that shapes Limber Pine Summer Camp:
that young people thrive when they are invited to explore with curiosity, lead with honesty and bravery, and stay close to the natural world.

Michael’s lifelong commitment to fostering a child-like sense of wonder—while honoring the growing complexity of adolescence—inspires everything we do at Limber Pine Summer Camp. Under his leadership, campers experience nature not just as a place to visit, but as a teacher, a guide, and a lifelong companion.
